The quick lab that we have done yesterday consisted of Bromothymol Blue Solution. This solution enabled us to determine wether or not the plant that was submerded into the water was doing photosysnthesis. There were two different controls one for light and one for dark and the other two that had a plant inside them. THe Bromothymol Blue and hydrocholric acid was an indication of color, when the liquid turns to yellow it becomes acidic which means that the plant did more cellular respiration and when the liquid turns green it mean that the plant did photosynthesis
The results were unexcpected. the opposite thing happened with the experiement. The plant with sunlight is supposed to be green then the one that does not have any sunlight at all. This meant that there has been an experiemental error with the procedure.
Great Summaries! Both for this past and also for your Cellular Respiration page.
ReplyDeleteLet's lift it up a notch:
When you write a summary for a class experiment, be more specific about what you think could have gone wrong. Was it the method? Or was it the way we measured something?
By method, we mean everything from the materials, the organism, the time taken to do things. Remember, just because your teacher demonstrated it, doesn't mean it was a perfect practical. It was just a practical that fitted into the lesson. So PICK HOLES in the process!!!
Tell me how we should have done it!
